My first non-photo related post is done in the name of Haiti relief and good music:

Be the drum allows you to donate however much you feel compelled and receive a full disc download of incredibly talented musicians…purposeful tunes, indeed. It’s on replay on my ipod right now.

One of the artists on the album is Brent Nettles who is an independent singer/songwriter whose honest and rich lyrics complimented by simple tunes have really been doing something soothing in my soul as of lately. The following photo illustration was produced by Brent’s wife Chloe.

Conversant Life: First Fridays VIP with TOMS & Phil Wickham

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of shooting the First Fridays event with TOMS Shoes & Phil Wickham for Conversant Life. Phil shared some songs and stories from his upcoming album, “Heaven and Earth.” This means he played for us series of work that have not yet been leaked to a public audience! Before his acoustic session, guests came pouring in and going straight to the TOMS Shoes booth to buy plain white TOMS and then making their way over to the “Style Your Sole” table for a-whole-nother party. People left with the raddest customized shoes.

For those of you who don’t know about TOMS Shoes, with every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One.

Conversant Life made sure that those who couldn’t make the event had the chance to see Phil’s performance LIVE!

YO! Maicol is a photographer and DJ I met through mutual friends. He’s pretty much awesome with the bestest laugh and style. He invited me to assist a shoot for his DJ friends: Mr. Peachez, DMNDAYS, Cru Jonesss, VTech, DJ Colours, and Dance Outfit under Dirty K Management. We spent a good six hours which included a busted soft box, a golf cart, breaking flourescent light bulbs on one’s head, and bike tricks (is that the right term?)…

Spirit Soul & Friends: Live on Wilshire

Annette & I met when I was working at a law office as a transcriptionist. Her exuberant and beautiful spirit was what allured me into a deep frienship with her. She was the first person to ever hire me as a photographer for her music group Spirit Soul & Friends. She believed in me from the very beginning before I even knew what the heck I was doing. I met her sisters and her band who were all so incredibly loving and full of life. About a year after, Annette contacted me to shoot her performance at Live on Wilshire for the LA Music Awards Showcase.
